Join us for our 2nd annual Methodist Family Feud. The first edition of the Family Feud matched a Bible team from our church against teams from three area United Methodist Churches, with the beneficiary being Cameroon Missions.  In this photo Susan Adair rings the bell to answer one of the questions. Look for details of the Family Feud soon.

Through frequent, widely varied Mission activities at First United Methodist Church of DeSoto we:

  • recognize and address the needs of those less fortunate in our area;
  • joyfully accept our responsibility to 'show that we are Christians by our Love';
  • find meaningful ways for people of different strengths, talents, resources, and energy levels to serve;
  • appropriately accept our place in the world-wide church, sharing beyond our national borders;
  • strengthen the bonds of friendship and mutual support through fun, fellowship, and food in the accomplishment of our Mission goals.

A FEW of the activities to which we are committed are:

  • Partnership with the Prison Ministry of the Methodist Church in Cameroon.

  • Regular donations to the Food / Commodity Pantry at Wilkinson Center.

  • Crafters who produce items for donation at Christmas, for Great Days of Service, and for sale at the annual Fall Festival.

  • Quarterly lunches for the homeless at Austin Street Shelter
  • Monthly food donations to DCOC
  • Sewing circle, which creates items to use in Methodist Hospital and other charities
  • Graduation lunches for jobs-classes at Wilkinson Center
  • Large annual Lenten Missions Project
  • Annual Valentine Dinner Dance to benefit local charity
  • Volunteer Job Fair showcasing church, community, and wider-world opportunities to serve.

  • Gleaning blueberries and sweet potatoes for the hungry
  • Great Days of Service – leadership, monetary, and total volunteer involvement.

  • Meals-on-Wheels
  • Matching Grants whereby groups within the church raise funds for mission projects of their choice which are then matched with Mission Funds

  • Provision of school shoe coupons and uniform belts to needy children of DeSoto ISD

  • Massive Angel Tree donations providing Christmas gifts for dozens of needy children.

  • Annual participation in the Volunteers-In-Mission North Texas Conference Project

  • Annual Collection of School Supplies for needy children of DeSoto ISD

  • Methodist Family Feud, involving other area Methodist Churches and raising funds for the Cameroon Ministry.

We guarantee an appropriate and rewarding way

to serve for each and every person who

recognizes his or her need to Make a Difference!
